Ship at sea

The Beginning...

Control Systems Company is a family owned business, originally founded in 1972 and specialized in the design and manufacture of marine burners and control systems for oil tankers and similarly large vessels. These systems were primarily employed in the retrofit of existing ships, which was an exceedingly active business in the mid-1970s.

In 1974, we expanded into the shore side utility power generation markets, gaining entry into and building its reputation within this industry by way of its patented High-Energy Spark Igniters and specially designed 12-joule Power Supplies. Both of these devices last significantly longer than the competition’s products, and are now used widely throughout the United States and worldwide.

In adapting to the marketplace of the mid-1980s, Control Systems Company developed, and subsequently patented, our highly reliable Smokeless Oil Lighters, which are compatible with any existing fossil fuel-fired boiler. We have successfully installed both lighters and controls on various types of boilers at numerous utilities since 1986.

In the 1990s, to become more responsive to customer needs, we expanded our scope of equipment to include combustion systems, gas turbine equipment, and in-house design & engineering of existing equipment and obsoleted parts.
